Coopers Rally Round 3 and Super Rally
Cross
The third round of the Cooper
Rally Series was held at Landcruiser Mountain Park on 3 & 4
July. Four different courses were run over the two days.
Leila in her Pajero, Robert in his Pajero and Clayton in his
Triton all finished Saturday with no issues. The ARB, All
4X4 Parts Super Rally
Cross was held Saturday night under ligh ts. In the Super
Rally Cross the team took the top spot in Ladies, Petrol and
Petrol Modified with Rob and Clayton taking out first and
second outright respectively.
Sunday saw a frost covered
country side awaiting competitors. Leila in her twin turbo
charged Pajero had an early finish in the first round due to
engine failure. However Rob and Clayton both finished the
day first in their classes with Rob also finishing first
outright and Clayton third outright. To make the weekend
even more enjoyable we were able to give friends and family
a thrill by getting them to jump in the navigators seat.
Thanks to Landcruiser Mountain Park, Coopers Tires, ARB ad
All 4X4 Parts for a great weekend.
The team will be busily
preparing Robs Pajero and Claytons Triton for the next round
of the AORC, the Griffith 700.
Coopers Rally Round 2
27 & 28 February 2010
Chapmans
Offroad ran all 3 vehicles again in the rally, with the
tracks being very muddy due to the rainfall in the week
before.
At the end of racing, Rob came 1st
in modified petrol class, Clayton came 1st in
standard petrol class and Leila came 1st in
ladies class.
These times resulted in Rob coming
1st outright and Clayton 3rd outright out of 33
starting cars in 5 classes. A great result for our sponsors
Cooper Tires, Garry Crick Mitsubishi, and Staun Racing
Products.
Coopers Rally Round 1
23 &
24 January 2010
Rob,
Clayton and Leila all started the 2010 year at Landcruiser
Mountain Park competing in the Coopers Rally. It is a series
of 4 rounds through the year. The driver with the most
points after the 4 rounds wins a set of Cooper tyres.
Vehicles are classed into petrol modified, petrol, diesel, &
buggy and there is also a ladies class.
Saturday was 3 laps of the 6
km track on Diaper Flats. Sunday was 2 laps of a 9 km track
and another 2 laps of a 13 km track near Billabong. Both
these tracks are rough, rocky in places with heavily treed
steep sections. Both tracks usually result in some vehicle
breakages.
At the completion of the 7 laps
Rob finished 2nd in Petrol modified class,
Clayton finished 1st in Petrol class & Leila
finished 1st in ladies class. Rob who had a minor
electrical issue, ie a fuse costing him a few minutes ended
up 2nd outright and Clayton came 3rd
outright for the weekend.
