The
Sexton short course organised by the Gympie Auto Sports Club
is an event that we all look forward to attending. It
consisted of 7 laps of a 10 km track over 2 days. At drivers
briefing Clayton& Adam were congratulated on their
championship win in the AORC & the QOR series in 2009. It
was their first race with Race No. 701. Rob & Leila were
also
congratulated on their
successes and after a few embarrassing moments for them, all
in good fun of course, racing got under way.
Saturday consisted of 3 laps.
Clayton’s clutch went on his 2nd lap, but he was
still able to finish the lap and also race the next lap with
out a clutch. The crew took the Triton back to the workshop
that night and replaced the clutch. Despite the mechanical
issues Clayton sustained he still managed to place 2nd
in Production 4WD class & 7th outright.
Rob had a brilliant weekend winning
the event outright and came 1st in Extreme 4WD
class.
Leila’s Pajero suffered turbo failure
after the 2nd lap so she had to sit and watch.
